NLIU National Corporate Law Moot

The NLIU National Corporate Law Moot is our flagship event based on Indian corporate laws. Previously, the competition has been conducted in collaboration with various government institutions such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and the State Bank of India. 

The competition receives an outpouring response from leading law schools across the country every year.  This year, the moot is being organized in collaboration with INSOL India as the official name partner of the competition. It is an independent leadership body representing professionals specializing in restructuring, insolvency, turnaround and related areas. It has a particular focus on insolvency practice and continuing professional education in the country. 

INSOL India is playing a pivotal role in shaping a robust insolvency regime in the country as a result of the recent large-scale insolvency reforms. We also have SCC Online, a comprehensive database for legal research, as the official knowledge partner of the competition. The Top 12 teams with the highest marks in their respective memorials, after having qualified through rigorous  Memorial Qualifying Rounds, have been invited to compete in the oral rounds of the competition physically.

About INSOL India

Established at a time when insolvency laws were not even in sight, INSOL India is now an independent leadership body representing professionals specialising in restructuring, insolvency, turnaround and related areas. Established in 1997, INSOL India has to its credit twenty five years’ experience as thought leader of the insolvency industry. It has special focus on insolvency practice and continuing professional education in the country. INSOL India is playing a key role in shaping a robust insolvency regime in the country as a result of the recent large-scale insolvency reforms. Its presence is felt in national and international forums where insolvency is a subject of discussion or dialogue. Many developments have taken place since the new Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code came into existence.

INSOL India has assisted and is assisting future reforms/ amendments in insolvency law and practice in relation to cross-border insolvency and personal insolvencies. Many developments have taken place since the new Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code came into existence and members of INSOL India are well abreast of the same through active interaction and appropriate information sharing. INSOL India’s members being established practitioners, have assisted courts in bringing out new interpretations of the insolvency laws thereby setting the foundation for an ‘insolvency jurisprudence’ which also paved way for policy changes.

As part of its mission, INSOL India is playing a major role in educating students and young professionals in insolvency and bankruptcy laws by imparting information and knowledge sharing by way of seminars, workshops, and webinars etc. It is having an annual insolvency moot court competition in association with the National Law University, Delhi.

INSOL India’s office bearers and Board are highly acknowledged senior professionals. They have assisted the Adjudicating Authorities and the Hon’ble High Courts as amicus curiae and otherwise, in creating a unique insolvency jurisprudence. India is the only country where ‘creditors are in possession’ at the start of the insolvency and restructuring process.

INSOL India is playing a key role the in overall development of insolvency and bankruptcy laws and practices, continuously working through knowledge sharing and research bases to establish a robust regime, fully supported by academic strength and practical skills.
